Communication is tricky

Everyone agrees that communication is important but we still have problems because we don’t communicate well. 

Karl Sutt recently wrote how to communicate effectively as a developer and it’s a good read. Effective communication is just as crucial a skill for a developer as writing quality code. Frankly, there scant few situations where communication isn’t critical if more than one person is involved.

We’ll sometimes get an email reporting, “the website doesn’t work”. It doesn’t give us much to go on. Which website? What doesn't work on it? Who are you?

I get it, it can be hard to decide how much information to put in a message. You don’t want to say too much or too little. But it’s worth trying to get it right. Otherwise, what? All noise and no signal.
